| Pygoras are a mid-size, very hardy fiber goat. Pygora fleeces change little as the goat ages, most staying "next to the skin" soft throughout the goat's life. This one breed of goat is capable of producing 3 very different types of fleece-a silky shiny fiber similar to kid mohair, cashmere fiber, and a third type of fiber which has luster, loft, and extreme softness all at the same time. Its renown for its "Glow". This third type is know as type "B" and is what we specialize in. Pygoras are making waves in the fiber world--In 2005 at OFFF, a nationally recognized Fiber Judge named a Pygora fleece-Best of Show over all other fleeces shown (wool, llama, alpaca, cashmere, etc). He was ecstatic about this fleece which he claimed was soft as angora bunny, but glowed with a wonderful luster! A pygora fleece won the diamond award again in 2006! OFFF hosts the largest sanctioned Pygora show and is a great place to learn about the breed.. Pygoras also provide good quantities of rich milk and are a American breed. |
